This web platform hosts climate-integrated early warnings for dengue outbreaks in three Caribbean countries: Barbados, Grenada and Saint Lucia. Dengue risk forecasts for up to 3 months ahead are generated on a monthly basis.
Please select a country on the right-hand side to access the disease risk forecasts. You will also be able to find information about the disease prediction model and visualisations of historical epidemiological and meteorological data.
Note, you will need special permission to access forecasts and other information for each country. You can request access by navigating to About > Contact. Due to data confidentiality, access requests may be refused.

Strengthening Climate Resilient Health Systems in the Caribbean is a project funded by the European Union, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to implement initiatives that improve the capacity of Caribbean countries to reduce the negative impacts of climate change on health.
Under this project, our consortium was awarded funds to develop early warning tools that forecast climate-sensitive disease risk in three CARIFORUM countries, an initiative managed by the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI). In this pilot scheme, climate-integrated prediction models for dengue outbreaks have been developed in Barbados, Grenada and Saint Lucia to support public health planning and decision-making.
Each month, dengue risk forecasts are generated 1 to 3 months ahead, integrating a combination of climate observations and forecast data which depend on delayed associations between climate and disease. These monthly disease risk predictions are operationally hosted and visualised on this web platform, which has been co-created with national and regional health bodies and meteorological services.
The tool aims to contribute to reduced morbidity and mortality from the expected health consequences of climate change in Caribbean countries by providing early warnings of outbreaks to trigger early action. Furthermore, it seeks to improve surveillance capacity of professionals working in both health and health-determining sectors.
This project has been funded by the European Union, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and managed by the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI).
In addition, the research, development and implementation of tools have been conducted through valuable contributions and expertise from the Barbados Ministry of Health & Wellness, Barbados Meteorological Services, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology, Grenada Ministry of Health, Wellness & Religious Affairs, Grenada Meteorological Services c/o Grenada Airports Authority, Saint Lucia Ministry of Health, Wellness & Elderly Affairs, Saint Lucia Meteorological Services, University of Columbia, and University of Florida.
